A former dance teacher at Humble High School will be in court this morning. She is accused of having a sexual relationship with one of her students.
Amanda Feenstra, 30, will go before a judge to charges that she had an improper sexual relationship with an underage student. That relationship allegedly began when the victim was 16 and a member of Feenstra’s dance team.
Feenstra is the former Humble High School dance and drill team director. The victim’s mother says Feenstra coerced her daughter into having sex several times between 2010 and 2011.
She says the girl was on the dance team at the time, and the two engaged in sex acts at school, after football games and at Feenstra’s home. The victim’s mother said she knew nothing about the improper affair until her daughter made an outcry to police a couple months ago.
She said, “Some nights I can’t sleep because this hurt me to the core, to the core of my soul. So sometimes I have cried and I’ve cried and I’ve cried and I’ve cried my eyes out.”
Feenstra left Humble ISD in 2011 and resigned from her job with Dayton ISD once the charges surfaced.
Humble ISD released a statement Wednesday afternoon saying, in part, “Humble ISD has zero-tolerance for inappropriate relationships between teachers and students. The district works with law enforcement for the safety and welfare of all students.”
