A manhunt is underway after police say a man pushed two women out of his car on the Katy Freeway last night, killing one of them and seriously injuring the other. Investigators say at least one of the women was shot before she was pushed out.
Police say the suspect shot one of the women and pushed her out on the Katy Freeway and Westgreen. She was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital. Her condition is unknown at this time.
The second woman was pushed out and killed near the Grand Parkway. Police say the body of the second woman was so mangled that they couldn’t tell if she was shot or not before being pushed out of the vehicle.
Investigators say the suspect ditched his vehicle about 10 miles away in Brookshire and ran off. Several witnesses saw him speeding away.
“My buddy here was driving a truck down the highway and this guy flew past us going 100 to 105 miles per hour,” said witness Daniel Bachrach. “We saw him hit the side of this 18-wheeler and skidded off the road and ended up in the ditch.”
Police have not yet provided a description of the suspect.
The Katy Freeway westbound lanes at Highway 99 were closed down for hours overnight due to the investigation. They reopened around 5:30am.
