Gunfire broke out during a fight at an annual Harlem basketball tournament, wounding 5 people.
The shooting happened at Rucker Park in Harlem, which is located at the intersection of 8th Avenue and 155th Street.
The five wounded people were taken to St. Luke’s for treatment. None of the injuries were considered life-threatening.
Former Knicks point guard Nate Robinson was at the game, but was not playing. He was not injured.
According to the founder of the Entertainers Basketball Classic, the shooting happened at halftime after a fight broke out in the stands. The stands were cleared because of the fight. Moments later, shots were fired, apparently from the street, into the court area.
Founder Gregory Marius says in 31 years they have never had a problem. There are security checkpoints before people can enter the court.
